FIRST PERFORMER TO BE ANNOUNCED FOR THE 2012 JUNO AWARDS,
SHARES THE MOST GRAMMY AWARD NOMINATIONS BY A CANADIAN WITH DRAKE
Ultra Records Canada in its 2ND year of fruition achieves a landmark year of success, ranking #6 Mediabase Top 40 Label Chart Share (#9 Overall) with artists, Deadmau5, Benny Benassi, Alexandra Stan, Edward Maya & Mia Martina, Calvin Harris, Wolfgang Gartner and Mischa Daniels.

One of Canada’s leading 54th Grammy Award nominated artistdeadmau5 is the first performer to be announced for the 2012 JUNO Awards in Ottawa. The announcement made by CTV’s eTalk on December 13, comes near the end of a busy year for deadmau5 that began with his LIVE@MUCH performance for the first nationally televised electronic concert in Canada. Followed by an acceptance at the 2011 JUNO Awards to receive his fourth consecutive award for his single “Sofi Needs A Ladder”. The single recently attained Gold sales status and is from his latest album, ‘4×4=12’ the only Canadian Anglophone album to reach Platinum sales status in Canada this year. These sales accolades accompany his two other 2011 certifications for his Gold selling DVD deadmau5 ‘Live From Earls Court’and Platinum selling single “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff”.  deadmau5’s Meowingtons Hax 40+ date North American tour broke several records this year, beginning with the opening date in Chicago when he became the first electronic artist to co-headline the annual Lollapalooza festival along with Foo Fighters.  In Montreal, he performed an unprecedented four consecutive shows at The Metropolis including a record three sold-out nights. In New York City, he performed a record breaking six consecutive sold-out nights at Roseland Ballroom (A record previously held by Rage Against the Machine in 1996). On the final date of the tour deadmau5 became the first Canadian artist to headline Toronto’s Rogers Centre, which was also filmed for the DVD ‘Meowingtons Hax Live From Toronto set for release January 24.
Fellow Canadian artist Mia Martina received her first JUNO nomination for her debut single and collaboration with Edward Maya on “Stereo Love” in January 2011.  The Platinum single was one of the Top 20 most played songs at CHR and HOT AC radio this year, ranking #18 at Top 40 and #20 at HOT AC on Mediabase’s year-end charts.
The debut single from Alexandra Stan “Mr. Saxobeat” was certified Platinum in 9 months, selling over 130,000 units to date. Artist singles, Benny Benassi ft. Gary Go “Cinema” and MIscha Daniels ft. J-Son “Where You Wanna Go” each garnered Gold certifications this year.
U.K.’s #1 Chart topping artist, Calvin Harris reached new international chart success this year, producing the hit single “We Found Love” by Rihanna ft. Calvin Harris.  The single charted #1 in 16 countries including Canada, U.S., and the U.K. and Top 5 in over ten other countries.

Beatport #1 chart topper, Wolfgang Gartner released his debut album, Weekend In America’ featuring collaborations with will.i.amJim Jones, Cam’ron, Eve, and Omarion.   Most recently Wolfgang Gartner was involved in the production of the Top 10 Billboard Canadian Hot 100 single “T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)” by will.i.am ft. Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger.
Ultra Publishing also had one of it most successful years to date with their roster of Grammy Award winning writers.
