Having spent several years lauded as one of the frontrunners in their genre, in 2012 WHITECHAPEL stand as a defining force in contemporary heavy music. Building dramatically on the trademarked bludgeon of their first three releases (out June 19), with Whitechapel the Tennessean sextet have inarguably delivered their most intense, dynamic, and downright hostile record to date. Drenched in atmospheric darkness, the record is also rife with gripping melodies that drag the listener in to the tumult, willing or otherwise, and across its ten tracks it is infused with an emotional depth that pointedly separates the band from the plethora of two-dimensional mosh-starters that have sprung up in their wake.

The album was engineered and mixed by Mark Lewis (Black Dahlia Murder, DevilDriver), who also handled production duties alongside the band. The album artwork was created by Aaron Marsh of Forefathers Group with art direction provided by WHITECHAPEL.

First Track From Upcoming Album on Hopeless Records

After coming out of hiatus last year with their seventh studio album When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes to worldwide acclaim, Hopeless recording artists YELLOWCARD are getting ready for another big and powerful year with “ALWAYS SUMMER”, the first released track from the upcoming album due out later this Summer.  With a new and firm lineup (Josh Portman fills in for departing bassist Sean O’Donnell), Yellowcard have been hard at work in the studio with longtime producer Neal Avron, creating another career highpoint in a history filled with pinnacles.

A fresh and energetic guitar-led track, “Always Summer” crashes out of the gate with their dual-guitar attack with a muscular rhythm section and punctuated by Sean Mackin’s distinctive violin, providing a perfect rallying cry that not only are Yellowcard back, but they’re here to stay.  Confident and strengthened by the fan support they’ve received on their return with WYTTSY, this song is not only a love song of sorts, but also a thank you to their fans, in which Ryan Key sings, “I think I have everything I need / It got dark, but now I think I see / The World around is full of arms still reaching out to me.”  The track will be streamed exclusively on Absolutepunk.net on Monday, May 21st and will be available on iTunes  starting Tuesday, May 22nd.

Kicking off the Summer with a special performance at USA 7’s Collegiate Rugby Championship at PPL Park in Chester, PA, on Saturday, June 2nd, Yellowcard will be one of the headliners on this Summer’s 2012 Vans Warped Tour which begins in Salt Lake City, UT on June 16th and wraps up on August 5th in Portland, OR.

With over two million albums sold and eight singles that have received significant Top 40 and Alternative radio airplay including the smash “Ocean Avenue”, Yellowcard’s most recent studio album, When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes debuted on at #19 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums and top ten charts worldwide when it was released last Spring. Their upcoming album is set for release this Summer and features guest vocals from Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low), Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday), and Tay Jardine (We Are The In Crowd).

Yellowcard is Ryan Key (vocals/guitar), Sean Mackin (violin), Longineu (“LP”) Parsons (drums), Ryan Mendez (guitar) and Josh Portman (bass).

Toronto, ON – Calgary-based pop-rockers Seventh Rain return with a new EP, Room For A Rumour, set to be released on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. The first single, “Turned Around,” was delivered to radio on March 12 and is a ballad inspired by the late Chelsea King. The band met her in 2009 while promoting their Show Some Heart Program in San Diego the day before she went missing. Produced by Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, State of Shock), Room For A Rumour was recorded in Vancouver, BC at three different studios including Dawson’s own space, The Den. Full track listing below.

“The music on Room For A Rumour is like nothing we’ve created before,” says lead vocalist, Ryan Williams. “We really went in a new direction and put together an amazing track list with some of the best songs we’ve written to date. We can’t wait to share the new EP with our fans at home and across the country.”

Seventh Rain consists of members Ryan Williams (vocals), Rich MacFarlane (guitar), Luke Sheppard (bass) and John Byskal (drums).  Formed ten years ago in Calgary, they began their journey with strong support from Calgary based radio stations, which saw their albums Byda (2007), Ghost In Me (2009) and their last EP, Hearts Not Beating (2011) spawn eight radio singles. In 2010, they won the $200,000 90.3 AMP Big ROCK STAR contest and in 2009 they won $10,000 at the Fuel 90.3 Rock Band contest. In 2005, they were named “Best Unsigned Artist” and awarded $150,000 by Calgary radio station Vibe 98.5 (now Virgin 98.5). Seventh Rain have toured throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States, opening for major recording acts including Mariana’s Trench, Hedley, Ill Scarlett, Ten Second Epic, Nickelback, Evanescence, Sum 41 and Third Eye Blind.

In addition to their music, Seventh Rain has continued to build their fan base and reputation through their Show Some Heart program, a campaign that has them performing and speaking out against bullying in schools across Canada and the United States. Having experienced bullying personally, the band is making an effort to connect with students through their music.

This summer Seventh Rain will be heading out on the road performing show dates around Canada. See below for more details.

THE MATADORS w/ Hellbound Hepcats, Evil Elvis, Butch Haller & His Chesterfield Ramblers

Blacktooth Entertainment presents a night to end all nights with the one, the only The Matadors on Saturday, June 16 at Hard Luck Bar (772 Dundas West). Joining the Kings of Horrobilly for this epic show will be The Hellbound Hepcats, Evil ElvisButch Haller & His Chesterfield Ramblers and more unrivalled acts yet to be announced.

As creators of the horrorbilly genre, The Matadors have been wreaking havoc across Canada since the mid-90s, delivering a live show they describe is “like being in a funhouse that has been set on fire” and who could possibly complain about that?

“Since this is our last year on earth we urge everyone to bring a helmet to the shows of 2012 due to the fact that each venue will be left in a bloody mess once we blow your fucking minds,” says frontman The Great Hooch.  And considering June 16 will also be the birthday celebration of The Turbo A.C.’s Jer von Duck, things are sure to get real messy, real quick.

Delivering a music-filled night that will put all others to shame for the rest of eternity, or at least till the end of this year when the world will finally implode, this is one show you don’t want to be crazy enough to miss.

Sandi Thom releases new album “Flesh and Blood”

August 14th 2012

Produced by Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes

Featuring duet with the iconic Buffy Sainte Marie

Los Angeles, CA – Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Sandi Thom is pleased to confirm the August 14th release of her fourth studio album “Flesh and Blood.”  The album was produced by the Black Crowes’ Rich Robinson and was recorded at 16 Tons studio, Nashville, Tennessee. This is Sandi’s fourth album following 2010’s critically acclaimed “Merchants and Thieves.”The first single, “The Sun Comes Crashing Down” will be available as a free download on www.sandithom.com on Monday, May 21st.

Best known for her 2006 No.1 hit single I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair), Flesh and Blood is a significant release, being Sandi’s sophomore studio album, released solely by her independent label Guardian Angels
Records (distributed by Nova through Universal Music Operation). The highly anticipated new album radiates the raunchy blues-rock bravado of the opening track Help Me, followed by the country flavored Leadbelly classic In The

The album also features the strutting, clavinet led Stormy Weather; and the emotionally compelling finale Lay Your Burden Down. The new album features an all-star ensemble led by Black Crowes Rich Robinson, drummer Steve Gorman and fellow Black Crowe and widely travelled session guitarist Audley Freed, respected Nashville stars Mike Webb (keys/Dobro) and James Haggerty (Bass) complete the line-up with special guest appearances from acclaimed singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte Marie and famous Rolling Stones collaborator, the legendary saxophonist Bobby Keys. “Sandi really stretched herself and made a bold new album,” reflects Rich Robinson, “Her songs are honest, vulnerable and very strong.

Her vocal abilities are showcased really well, as is her guitar work, and harp
playing. I think Sandi’s made a great record. It was a joy to work with her.” Legendary classic rock producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, Joe Bonamassa) also mixed two tracks, Sun Comes Crashing Down and a duet with Buffy Sainte Marie on the latter’s classic song, Big Ones Get Away. “Sandi’s writing is fantastic,” says Shirley, “and her singing is wonderful. Sun Comes Crashing Down has all the right ingredients to be a hit.” The intriguingly titled I Love You Like A Lunatic, is based on her “life-‐changing” love affair with superstar blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa. The couple has been together three years now, living and loving on and off the road. Sandi likens it to a modern day Johnny Cash and June Carter fairy-tale. “My life just turned crazy,” says Sandi. “Yet that’s what everybody wants, that insane kind of love that utterly consumes you.”

Sandi feels that Flesh and Blood is her coming of age album. “All I ever want to do is write songs that connect with people,” says Sandi. “With this album I’ve finally found a place where I can make the very best music I can achieve. The people that only know me from Punk Rocker won’t recognize me on this album. But they are going to find out another side of me.”
