Toronto—Yahoo/Rogers Data Breach Class Action Settlement lawsuit was finalized in late 2024 and all claimants were to submit all evidence and receipts by December 27th 2024. In May, the Attorneys handling the lawsuit, sent out an email stating the payouts would be late spring, early summer. We’re now in mid August and we decided to contact the legal team for updates. You can read the reply we received below.

“Thank you for contacting the Yahoo Data Breach Class Action Settlement.

The payment distribution has been delayed due to the discovery of certain incomplete claims. According to the terms of the Settlement, claimants with incomplete claims have a 30-day period to provide additional supporting documents. Since the payments come from the Settlement funds and the compensation is calculated based on the number of approved claims, we must adhere to the 30-day response deadline before we can determine the final compensation amounts.

The deadline for submitting claims was at the end of December. Payments in a class action usually take between 6 and 12 months from the end of the claims period to be sent. We do our best to meet this timeframe whenever possible, but we have received a high number of claims that needed to be reviewed and verified to confirm their validity.

We thank you for your patience. We anticipate that payments will be made in September, unless there is an unforeseen delay.
