FAT 2011 was April 26th to the 29th and this years theme was Fashion Schematics and it was my first year covering the festivities. Toronto Alternative Arts and Fashion week better known as FAT added some welcome creative chaos to my life there were live art installations, musical performances along with some short films and the hottest runways shows by the Toronto underground Fashion elite, all showcasing their work. The venue was 99 Sudbury a night club that looked like it was once a warehouse, the perfect space for fashion shows. Every Fashionista, Hipster, Scene Kid, Musician (Neverending White Lights, Candy Coated Killahz), Actors, Socialites, you name it anyone who is anyone on the Toronto scene was checking out FAT including former Degrassi New Generation stars Drake and Shenae Grimes who I came across on Day 1. My favorite piece of all the fashion shows is Rachel Sin’s Gold Jacket, I really want that jacket! Unfortunately there are no photos but there is a video of the collection below just before the rest of the choice pieces I liked or found interesting. A few other designers that need to be check out are Wani By Saki, Joy Couture, Asphyxia and Breeyn McCarney, I will definitley have to go more in depth next year huge thanks to TenFourToronto for being so amazingly hospitable!
