New York, NY, June 28, 2010 – New York City-based singer and musician, Lachi, will launch her first studio album on July 22, 2010 at Joe’s Pub located at 425 Lafayette Street. Lachi, the self-titled album, captures the songstress’ knack for blending hauntingly honest and personal lyrics with breezy, appealing melodies. Lachi who is of West African descent has performed at SxSW, CMJ, and the IndieGirl Conference among others. As a legally blind woman who has overcome many adversities, Lachi’s sociopolitical and poignant lyrics are often inspired by the stigmas of her visual impairment. The inspiration creates a unique sound that intermingles many musical genres, creating what is uniquely Lachi.

A New York City-based singer and musician, Lachi, has garnered widespread attention since her humble open-mic beginning in 2007, now performing shows throughout the Northeast. Lachi can be heard showcasing at national music festivals along with being on national public radio.
Lachi creates a genre of her own with moving lyrics, driving rock and a rich culture.
Lachi’s legal blindness has done everything but hinder her ability to overcome life’s trials and make her a strong, outspoken young woman. The strength of her personality and motivation can be heard throughout her self-titled debut album – Lachi.
