BRAMPTON BEAST’S LAST PLAYOFF GAME
OF 2014
FEATURE EDITORIAL
By: Fridae Mattas
Back in October 2013 I went to one of the first ever Brampton Beast games, for a new team in one of Toronto’s suburbs the turn out was pretty good considering there really wasn’t much press about the league other than the Brampton Guardian and maybe another indie sports blog. I’m in Brampton a lot so I decided to launch FridaeTV sports with The Brampton Beast CHL Hockey team. I wanted to do a few interviews, some happened others didn’t but next season, more interviews. This team has some very talented players like Tylor Michel, Andrew Fournier, Calin Wild, Jamie Vanderveeken, Andrew Darrigo, Scott Howes, Matt Caruana, Jason Pitton, Mike MacIsaac and of course the goalies Grant Rollheiser and Kris Westblom who are turning into some great goaltenders any NHL team would be lucky to have!
Game 5 was scoreless in the first period against the 2013 CHL Champions The Allen Americans, the toughest team in the CHL to beat. It wasn’t until the second period where the Beast scored once and ended up losing the game and their playoff run 4-1. No need to be sad the new season is only a few months away and for the debut of the only Canadian team in the Central Hockey League the Brampton Beast kicked some serious ass, coming in 6th overall in the CHL’s regular season. Many hockey fans complain about the Maple Leafs never winning and rarely making the playoffs, go out and support those less publicized professional teams like The Brampton Beast, The Toronto Marlies, even Mississauga has a Hockey team! That’s all for this season, major thanks to Bonnie and The Brampton Beast for having me, hoping to see more people out to the home games in the 2014/2015 season and I promise to get an even better shot of the puck going into the net than this one here.
