Record Breaking Band Says Farewell to Loyal Fans
New York, NY – Multi-platinum and record breaking Australian rock band JET have decided to part ways after a decade together. As one of the most internationally successful Australian artists in recent history, the members of the award-winning and critically acclaimed group have chosen to pursue separate creative endeavors. The band would like so say a heartfelt farewell to their loyal fans.
JET says, “After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group. From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all. Thank you, and goodnight.”
JET were catapulted into several million households in 2003 when their breakout hit “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” was featured in the original commercial for Apple’s iPod. The song, along with a coveted opening slot on the Rolling Stones’ Australian tour, spurred the highest selling debut in Australian history with the band’s full-length album, Get Born, which also included the #1 rock anthem “Cold Hard Bitch.” JET followed Get Born with 2006’s Shine On and 2009’s Shaka Rock for a combined total of 6.5 million albums sold worldwide.
JET have established themselves as an international success on the touring circuit, playing over 1000 shows and music festivals all over the world, including shows at the Olympics, Live Aid and Sound Relief in their native Australia.
Although the band will no longer be touring and recording together, JET have committed to keeping their music, legacy and brand alive through new licensing, publishing, merchandise, re-records and releases. JET manager and Tenth Street Entertainment’s Vice President of Tour Marketing Brad Friess said, “We will continue the JET brand and their global footprint. Although the band will cease to exist as an entity, we will be working very closely with the members of JET to keep the fans happy with new product in the market place.”
